Natural law is simply the law of nature.
- Each being has the ability to act.
- Each being's actions have the ability to impact others.
- Others may decide to take responsive actions based upon others' actions.
TV shows us vigilante justice on a grand scale. And, yet we are told that 'the system provides justice'.
Let's think about this.
How does the system provide justice to the widows or children of a murdered father?
How does the system provide justice to a sexually abused child?
How does the system provide justice to those whose pensions were stolen by the CEO?
Wouldn't justice involce recompense and not simply punishing the perpetrator (at the expense of the aggrieved!).
In our current system:
- You kill a man, accidentally or intentionally.
- In the best case: the killer goes to prison. And the family of the murdered pays for his room and board.
How does that help anyone?
Now, suppose the same thing happens in a just society:
- Someone accidentally kills a man.
- The widow and children are left without provision
- The killer is reponsible for replacing the provision of the man he killed.
Wouldn't that make more sense?
Wouldn't that be justice?
